This is a project for a textual analogue to Christian Marclay's 1989 telephone handset, which is a two-person device with autonomous speaking and listening roles.
A web-based gchat-compatible instant messaging client is proposed, consisting of two components that are distributed between two separate computers. Signed on simultaneously under a single online identity, only one of the two halves will display incoming messages, and only the other will be able to send outgoing messages.
